WARNING: the following article contains images and text related to human remains

The SHARP Human Remains Team has had a trip up to Norfolk this May to get things ready for the 2026 season.

We have got our skeletons and lectures ready to run our Human Remains Course (week 2), and prepared lots of jobs for our Human Remains volunteers (weeks 2-3). We are working through data checks of the Early Medieval skeletons so we have as much information about them as possible. We will also be doing more detailed analysis of Celeste, the Romano-British period crouched burial we excavated in 2025 (see our previous blog posts fo what we have learnt so far).

This weekend, we have spent a lot of time going through our records of excavations over the years, and doing a lot of paperwork sorting. We even found some old donated x-rays of injuries of team members past and present, which give an insight into some of the injuries our skeletons have.
