Important update on 2020 season

At SHARP, the health, safety and wellbeing of all who come to work and study with us is of the utmost importance. In light of the fast-moving and challenging events presented by Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have sadly decided to cancel our 2020 excavation season in order to help prevent the spread of the infection and to protect the local community which is our home during the summer.

We have not taken this decision lightly but during this period of uncertainty, health and safety considerations outweigh the love of archaeology which we all hold dear. The decision was made ever harder, against the background of the events we had planned to celebrate our 25th anniversary season. Since 1996 we have been excavating and researching over five thousand years of human settlement at Sedgeford; the archaeology still awaiting discovery will still be there for us in 2021. We hope that you all will understand and appreciate the reasons behind our decision.

We hope you all stay well and look forward to seeing you again at Sedgeford in 2021.

Take care

The SHARP Team
