PHOTOGRAMMETRY

£310.00Price
  • This course will provide those attending with skills required for basic photogrammetry. It will cover the theory of photogrammetry, how the process works, how best to take photographs to yield the best results and the software required. After an introductory talk, the remaining course will be practical with ample time for those participating to take photos of the magnificent church of St Mary's and surrounding graveyard. This will contribute to a new study, and also documenting memorials to the typhoid victims.

Each student will be encouraged to take their photos home to process, and will hopefully have gained the necessary skills to continue their own work in photogrammetry. A good understanding on IT would be helpful, although not essential.

The course will take place from 8.20am to 5pm. Lunch will be provided.

We are also introducing this year the option to stay on for the rest of Week 1 for a week of workshop and practical application. You can either book just the day course (Sunday 12th July 2026), or for the course and the rest of week 1 (12/07/26 - 17/07/26 inclusive).

This will be ideal for those that would like to reinforce what they have learnt and put that into practice. The week-long workshop will cover in a more informal way details on the use of a variety of software and processing techniques, as well as provide discussion sessions on data capture, storage, and other considerations when using photogrammetry for projects. You will be making 3D models of a variety of different types and size of objects, from small finds to large daub fragments, gravestones, archaeological features, and even buildings. SHARP will assist and advise any projects that the participants themselves are interested in undertaking. To take part in this workshop please choose the week option when booking.

We can also offer day rates for camping and meals for those who wish to stay on site either side of the course. To discuss these options, please contact bookings@sharp.org.uk.

Please note: persons aged 15 are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian accompanying. Ages 16 and 17 may attend unaccompanied with parental or guardian permission.

We aim to be accessible to everyone, so if you do have access requirements, please get in touch so we can discuss what we can do to help.
